The color belt classes for ages 6-12 focus on the basic blocks, punches, kicks, and Poomsae forms (Taekgeuk Forms 1 through 8) as each student progresses toward black belt. We focus early on speed, balance, flexibility, and intensity and challenge each student to be better tomorrow than they are today.
The advanced class includes a combination of all adults, all color belts 13 and over, Recommended Black Belts of any age, Black belts of any age. Advanced classes continues to build on the foundation established and introduces more complicated kick techniques, sparring technique combinations, Black Belt Poomsae forms, self defense, flexibility, core strength, and balance.
Poomsae, or forms, is an integration of the techniques for the purpose of physical fitness and self protection based on the actual techniques for survival. It is a series of movements which consists of regulated formalities of attacking and defending and lets a student practice on his or her own. Poomsae helps with muscular strength, endurance, balance, agility, flexibility, reflexes, concentration, memory, confidence, and reaction skills.
Sparring allows students to test their skills against one another in a competition setting. We have fully trained referees on staff to properly simulate tournament situations. Taekwondo is a contact sport, and each student trains and competes with full protective gear. Each student will spar those similar in age / weight / height / belt rank.
Our students represent our school and test their skills in tournaments throughout the local area.
Check our "Upcoming Events" page to see future tournaments as well as our past tournament results.
More than 1 in 3 women and nearly 1 in 4 men have experienced sexual violence involving physical contact at some point in their lives (CDC statistics from 2015 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey). Parents are worried about protecting their children. Men and women both want the confidence to defend themselves even without a weapon available or when caught by surprise. Training, even a one-time seminar, can boost confidence and help someone assaulted to NOT PANIC.
